The Calm Before.

Post by Torakaka on Sat Jan 21, 2012 10:55 pm

Not long now...
The Kaka elder had lost her way, and she knew it. Normally the mere resonance of sounds would be enough to triangulate just where she was - the laugh of townsfolk, the cries of merchants, the bark of dogs and mewling of her cousin cats - but it was all wrong. Her nose was among the best in all Kagutsuchi, her eyes piercing even the thickets blankets of dark, and yet Toraka was lost.
And the world smelled like death.
Was it possible for the world to alter from the actions of a select few individuals? Sure, nuclear war came into existence in the days before the Black Beast, all on account of a few crazy scientists, but even then the populace at large seemed unaware of what was to come. Why, then, was Tora so anxious?
Cats see things differently, hear things differently, to normal folk, she thought bleakly, perched atop a building with her big paws and booted feet braced neatly beside one-another. We can sense the opera of the world coming to a close...

From: Halloween Requiem ---------->

"A lost kitten? Now this is a rare sight."
It was none other than Rachel Alucard standing on the edge of another building while facing the city. She seemed lost in thoughts, nonetheless she greeted the kaka elder in an unfitting yet totally ordinary fashion by her standards.
"I was wondering what you might be up to."
That was just like the vampire. Appearing out of nowhere without much words. Maybe there was a reason why she happened to just land next to Torakaka.

Tora's eyes and ears raised at the sight of the vampiric girl, but her posture barely changed. Smooth as silk, the Kaka rose to her two feet.
Well, as myu just observed, I'm simply waiting here...lost. The roaming cat raised a paw to her shoulderblades, scratching casually without extending the long, powerful claws. It's been a while, Rachel Alucard. What have you been up to, meow? Stalking Mr Bloodedge, perhaps? It's his scent I keep detecting on the air - his, and the death that follows.

"I believe you have not answered my question fully yet, Kaka elder. I already figured that you are lost, but not your real purpose of wandering around. Thus my question. I believe it is a bit rude to answer a question with another question... nonetheless I will try to satisfy your curiosity with bright expection."
Rachel seemed a bit talkative. Maybe that isolation put her into the mood of putting some effort into conversation, maybe it was another reason.
"Stalking is not the right word nor the right description of my actions. As I am no longer an observer I am free to do whatever I want."
"I happen to feel like crushing this snake under my feet. Right here, right now. As you mentioned Ragna's stinking prescence is in the air... and so the odor of an even worse smelling being."

Rachel's facial expression changed to a serious and cold one. It seemed almost as if she was about to do something reckless.....
"There is a good chance of getting this unsightful demon right now. It appears the White Knight is also involved... I did not sense any support for Terumi on the other hand... not yet. It would be wise to strike now."
"So if you happen not to know, what you should do with your spare time... I would appreciate your help."

Tora nodded insightfully throughout the vampire girl's spiel. Her Kaka instincts told her to yawn, but the more educated parts of her being denied the impulse and forced it to the furthest crevices of her mind.
Help? I escorted Platinum the Trinity into this city, under Jubei's command; and yet I'm an observer meow, like you. A sweet smile curled upon the Kaka elder's lips, bordering on devilish. Although...it would be worth it, just to see the green-haired one sneeze. What are you suggesting, Rachel Alucard? That I step out of the shadows and take to the stage? Meow, that seems like a curious idea - especially when it comes from someone as...proud, as you.

(From 'Apartment on a Sidestreet')~~~~~~~~>

The capable will of the often in shadows assassin was not in doubt, her choice to leave the area of battle was seemingly a sound one. She had made herself out into an area she presumed was untouched. It was only then upon her instinct sensing two presences, those she had no idea as to who they might be; only that both held an ominous area around them. Figuring it was only a matter of moments before she was found out, she made the first initial move; one she thought best. She stepped forward and greeted them both as humbly as she could place herself.

"I beg your pardon, I know I haven't a place...I stumbled upon this..and simply wish for no trouble; so I am humble before your graces..." her words were much like her own, full of a kind of confusion, but still a stark confidence in her that allowed her to stand before strangers and prostrate herself in the manner of a slight headbow: giving her full visual of them while showing her respect to complete strangers.

"You happen to mean to be an observer as I used to be. I already told you, this is no longer my task in this sickening filthy dimension."
For a brief moment Rachel watched into the distance. Although she revealed an omnious plan as confronting Terumi with brute force and sheer mass, she was still waiting. Maybe for the right moment? Or maybe precaution had to be taken.

Rachel was fully alert as some unknown trespasser managed to disturb Torakaka and the vampire lady.
"I wonder what your role in these twisted causalities might be? Humbling aside, you don't appear as a simple peasant to me. You were able to confront, although you appear to understand what is standing right before you."
She made a move. The wind swept over the street for a brief moment. It was not aggressive, just slightly stronger than usual, yet odd. Rachel was standing next to the newcomer in the next instant. Nago and Gii were with her the whole time, but they didn't say anything. They sensed the mood of their mistress and didn't want to risk a provocation.
"I might as well just let you cease to exist. I do not need any disturbances right now. You are a unstable variable within my calculations right now."
Her voice was cold, her gaze as well.

At first, Tora threw the newcomer a tilt of the head, as if to say Be with you in a minute. But when Rachel made her move she knew she had to act. The Kaka was a blur, and then she stood between the two with one golden claw outstretched, creating a razor-sharp wall to seperate the vampire girl and the stranger.
Her red eyes were upon Rachel's, those hues only a shade darker, harsh and incredulous. Rachel Alucard. What has Terumi done to you? Whether physical or psychological - as was the green-haired man's profession - the vampire girl had clearly been forced to anger by Hazama's actions. Tora had met Rachel only a scarce few times, but that was enough to form an opinion of the girl: calm, sarcastic, sadistic. None of these things were showing through right now.

The blast of wind warned her of the sudden instinct of the vampire, she had made a dangerous play and understood that fact before she stepped out into the open. The female didn't raise her head, she in fact lowered it even as the kaka had suddenly moved between them. Was she being protected? Junesa made no attempts to move beyond her place and in fact just spoke what she'd hoped to get beyond her mouth, she had to release it!

"I...I know only that before me are two beings of power, far beyond my reach...my only purpose is...is nothing more than to be of some use. I am nothing as it is...but I listen from the shadows, I have stood by and done nothing. I want that to change." her words coming out naturally in a stutter, the proud assassin felt all of her confidence draining out of her, that was something that she imagined; this young appearing blond controlled the very elements. Erasing her would have been nothing but a moment's passing thought.

Re: The Calm Before.

Post by Rachel Alucard on Thu Feb 02, 2012 3:44 pm

Tension filled the air. Rachels unnatural killing intent was not lifted even after Torakaka's remark.
"Ah? Did you get cold feet there for a moment? You thought I would just wander around erasing puppies from the surface of this world? Comical, yet ironic. Ironic in the way, that my sense of humor still seems to be one of it's kind."
Her voice was filled with a macabre sense of brightness and coldness at the same time. The vampire averted her eyes from those of the Kaka elder, looking down the dark alley.
"Father's library is unique. Even I was unable to shield myself completely from the madness that lies within. This temporary state of mind I received from wandering around so naively seems to be more dangerous than expected... for others that is."
A tired smirk. Suddenly she raised a hand having Nago tightly in it's grip. The metamorpher showed a nervous expression.
"Nyup!"
An awkward sound came from it's mouth as he found himself opened as the umbrella he usually represents.
"So you want to do something."
Rachel spoke the 'do' in a suggestingly long fashion before continuing after a short break.
"Do you have an idea what you try to accomplish? Someone lingering around in the shadows makes you special in which way? Do you try to impress people by giving a mysterious aura? Or are you just compensating some inferiority complex?"
The blond girl sighed as she took another break from her soliloquy.
"Hmm, I believe I have to think more carefully. You said 'you were nothing as of now'... naturally you are nothing special, not even the shadows make you to stand out in any abilities..."
"Rachel-sama... I believe you only confuse your opposite with... uhm... your highly intellect way of expressing your thoughts, which is impossible to understand for... individuals of lower education?"
Nago finally found courage to intervene trying his best to somehow form a sentence that pleased the egoistic behavior of his mistress. Fearing for the worst he prepared himself for any sort of punishment.
"..."
"Ah, you have a point, Nago. I beg you pardon for wasting your time, little Miss. I think I need to apologize to you as well, Torakaka. Remorse is spreading inside of me, as we speak."
Which part in this conversation was 'we'?
"In any way. I hope you understand that this is not a matter of simpleness. It is a contract where your life is the payment, not some fancy coins you would be able to regain with a little bit of work. I am currently low on servants, especially loyal ones. They are so rare these days... some tend to have double-moral, which makes things a bit... complicated. Well, well, but why shalt I not participate in a little gamble? Let's say you work for me and I trust you not to stab me from behind or open a path for others to do so? Does that sound intriguing enough for you?"
Rachel's red eyes were back from the streets directly fixed towards the direction of the stranger.

Tora slowly turned away from the other girl, still sheltering her with a large paw as Rachel went off talking to herself. Jubei had spoken highly of the vampire girl, even if he was a little exasperated every time he came away from meeting her brick-wall superiority complex - but the Kaka elder had never imagined this. What sort of books were in this library of hers, to drive such an old and wise being to the brink of madness? Tora was not a great scholar, but she could read well enough, and text had never hurt her.
Stay there, she commanded the newcomer, before turning to follow Rachel a little, her shrouded eyes big and wary. You want me to work for you, Rachel Alucard? Meow, I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I must lay down a term of my own... Think about your actions before performing them. A vampire as powerful as you...if you let your anger go out of control for even a second, the world around you will suffer.

Junesa heeded the kaka before her that told her to stay put, she had no intentions of moving, but the look in the vampire's eyes made her shiver mentally and she looked up and answered without hesitation to the proud princess, she was indeed this way and this was the fact that she was trusting in: that this would give her purpose. The Jade Assassin had nothing left to her in the world for her to be one to deal with right away. "I, Junesa Azai-Azuchi, from this moment on am your dedicated servant...may I be useful to you, my lady. I am a walker of the shadows often, I will perform any task you ask of me to my best abilities." such devotion from an odd-ball stranger who had just walked up? She felt that she should move in towards understanding...this had to be a fate's touch, she wanted to believe that.

Re: The Calm Before.

Post by Rachel Alucard on Fri Feb 03, 2012 11:09 pm

Rachel said nothing. Another unusual reaction to be seen from her: A smile. Not a happy one, it was shrouded with self-irony and bitterness.
"I believe I was observing for too long. I only regained the ability to actually intervene into the pattern of action and reaction recently... I believe my sense for how 'affecting' ones movements can be became a bit dull."
The world around her... suffering. That actually sounded like something a being like Rachel Alucard couldn't care less about. She was wicked in her own way, using everyone as she pleases to gain her goals, always standing over others. Yet at the same time Torakaka's words seemed to affect her in a way. It war rare for the vampire to accept critics, especially from others. Making her surrounding suffer... that was no longer something she wished for, especially not to happen in presence of a certain man.
"Are you sure you do not want to rethink your decision? I already mentioned you place your life as a trading object in this contract. You want to change something, but there may be other ways? Do not be so foolish as to agree just like that."
The vampire had turned to the newcomer again, who was still eager to offer her services. A sudden switch towards Torakaka, Rachel looked into the dark hood, which held a grimace together with a pair of red glowing eyes.
"Is that enough reconsideration of my actions for now? Because I am afraid it has to suffice for now as we run out of time."

"Be a good girl and find Valkenhayn for me in the meantime, Azuchi-Azai. That will be your first task if you are absolutely sure about your decision."

With these words Rachel jumped onto the building right in front of her. Well it was more like she was ascenting elegantly, yet swiftly and almost hard to follow with the human eye.
"We need to get Terumi. Dead or alive."

Tora gave a simple nod when she was asked a question. The Kaka Elder was not like her clansmen; she thought, and quite decently at that. She would not consider accepting Rachel's deal without weighing up the pros and cons first - but she was a quick thinker, and the only con she could think of was that Rachel may annoy her with such attitude.
Very good. She crouched as Rachel moved, then extended like a spring, launching herself over to where the vampire girl now stood and landing on all four paws. Have you considered this thoroughly, Rachel Alucard? Terumi Yuuki is not a man to trifle with, if we are not sure of our ability to stop him. The Azure Grimoire... If he truly knows how to harness its power, this task might prove insurmountable. Meow.

The command came to her and as her new mistress took off from the area she had been in, the raven-haired jade assassin rose to her feet and performed a traditional head bow; letting the raven locks rest alongside her face. "So you have spoken, so shall it be done, Madame Alucard." her words chosen at best about how she could show her respect. With these words of her new orders, Junesa soon faded back into the shadows from wence she came; her body soon becoming nothing but a figment of vision.

While on her way she could not help but smile, she'd gone and met two interesting people and gained a new master. She hoped to become Lady Rachel Alucard's blade of shadow or whatever she required her to be. 'I'll Not fail you...I swear my life on that, that much I was not joking about.' The words were more just to herself. Taking her new orders to heart, the jade-bearing assassin took her new duties and headed off to find the legendary hero, Valkenhayn R. Hellsing...a name that she knew only as a mystery. She would not fail her first mission, finding him....he had been sighted before recently; she would start from the last known whereabouts.

Looking behind her back Rachel noticed the disappearing presence of her new companion. With that the two women were alone again.
"Of course, I am well aware of Terumi's abilities. I did not undergo severe danger inside my own four walls to charge at him without a plan. We will-"
Rachel suddenly stopped. Her eyes swiftly turned towards the clash of the many high-level souls fighting in the middle of the city.
"This is bad."
The vampire lady didn't say anything else as she was already into motion to haste at highspeed forward.
//It's that foolish girl! What is she trying to pull?//
Caelica Mercury, a huge chaos factor within this already complex and careful calculations. With her sudden appearance things could turn out for the worst...
